Traumatized

Last night on the way home from Disneyland , I did something that I hope no one ever has to do . I was looking down on my phone when my bf screams out of nowhere that there was a dead dog on the road . I asked if he was sure it was a dead dog and not a different animal(skunk or raccoon) he said he was sure it was a big German Shepherd , so I told him to make a U turn and sure enough there was a big beautiful German Shepherd dead in the middle of the lane but still looking like it had a smile on its face . I got out & slowly dragged him to the sidewalk by his collar while having a panic attack & SOBBING uncontrollably . I then called the police station & they directed me to another number which was closed & i tried animal control anyway even though i knew it was closed too and there was not much they could do until the morning since it was already almost 12 am. Whoever hit that dog has absolutely NO HEART and I hope they get ran over and left for dead also . Accident or not , you stop, that dog could have been saved had they taken it to the emergency room ! The dog got hit on the left side of his hip and it looked like he had gun shot that’s how bad it was , when I dragged him his intestine was hanging outside of his body yet there was cars still running over it ? It was late and there was no traffic at all any of those cars could have easily stopped . How could people be like this ? I woke up and it was the first thing on my mind. I feel weird today 😢 I can’t stop thinking what if the owners are looking for him & what they must be feeling . I’ve only seen a dead dog 2 times on the road and both times they messed me up bad . I have 4 dogs and 1 of them escaped around Christmas last year it was the worst feeling ever and if it wouldn’t have been for the amazing people who kept him inside in the rain , that could have been him ran over 😢 I hope that dog had a great happy life , idk what else to say besides people suck .
