Infection from pedi?

On Saturday I decided I wanted a mani/pedi to help me relax. So I went to a place I've been before, and really liked. However, suddenly my big toe is red and swollen on the side, and hurts to stand or put pressure on. I'm not sure if it's infected or an ingrown from being cut incorrectly... Sorry for the gross pic, but I'm not sure if I should go to a doc or just add neosporin and call it a day. Thoughts, ladies???

It doesn't look like there's a cut to put poly on so my best suggestion is to soak it in Epsom salt and warm water as much as you want during the day and see if that will help bring out the infection if there is one and if there isn't the Epsom soak will help soothe any inflammation. My son picked his skin on his thumb and I soaked it and put poly on it and it looked like it got better and then it was suddenly worse and u took him to the walk in clinic and they gave him antibiotics. 3 days later his thumb was better.

I wouldn't go to the doc unless you look like you're turning into a zombie on your toe lol. Disinfect around it and wait a couple days, if anything, poke the cuticle back after a couple days and let the puss out if it looks like there's any in there or if it builds up.

Soak it in epsom salts and apply listerine on a cotton ball. Epsom salts drawn out pain and infection... listerine will help if there is anything fungal

Infection. I had this. What I did was soak my toe in lemon juice water and apple cider vinegar. Hot! Get the mix as hot as you can handle. Keep your toe in there as long as you can and then take out then put back in and repeat. Keep it elevated when not soaking. Also rub olive oil onto effected area to draw out infection. It should eventually rupture and puss. At that point clean with peroxide until all dried up!

It's totally possible to get an infection. I got an infection in my thumb about two years ago after a mani. It got red and swollen like your toe. I went to urgent care twice and both times they told me to soak it in Epsom salt. That didn't help so I went to the emergency room where they had to numb my thumb and then slice it the full length of my nail to allow the infection to drain.  Sorry for the horrible image, but it was horrible. Trace the redness and swelling with a sharpie. If it gets bigger I suggest going to the ER and getting antibiotics. Don't wait until it gets so painful it feels like it could explode... Trust me, you'll be sorry.

My cuticles constantly look like this because I bite my nails. I just make sure to keep the area clean and slather neosporin on. It looks more irritated than infected

I had this happen and I made a cut in the red swollen part and pushed puss out and then poured peroxide all over it and covered it in neosporin and everyday I cleaned it with peroxide and neosporin and it got better

It does look infected. I would put neosporin on it. Don't think it's hospital serious. If it doesn't get better, or starts to spread, then yes.
