Ultrasound at 6 weeks 3 days! No heartbeat?

I had an ultrasound this morning in the er because of some spotting.. Baby measured at 6 weeks 3 days.. Doctor said they could not see a heartbeat yet... Is this normal? He also said they usually can't see it until about 8 weeks.

We saw this baby's at 6+3. But at 5+4, the sac measured 6+0 and no heartbeat. Then at 6+3, it measured 6+3.

I've heard that six weeks could be too early to see or hear anything. If they didn't seem worried, I wouldn't be either. A few days can make a huge difference because our babies are growing so quickly. :)
