How often should you wash curly hair? I feel like my hair gets dirty so damn fast, when it kinda stinks & itches, it's dirty right? I don't put any products in my hair really & im of mixed race. Black & Puerto Rican ... Help I need advice

The more you wash your hair the more oil your scalp will produce to offset the washing. I used to wash my hair every day but it was dry and crispy about halfway through and super oily near the roots. I slowed down on the washing and have gotten down to washing twice a week tops now. I hate using product in my hair too, I feel like it makes my hair dryer and drags my curls down, so the only thing I use is a little hair oil to keep the ends from drying out between washes.

The rule of thumb is usually every three days, no matter what the texture of your hair is. When you shampoo it, do it twice. Once to get the extra grime off of it from whatever it has been around, and again to really get the hair and scalp clean. The cleaner the scalp and hair...the bouncier the curls. If your hair is dry, I would recommend a conditioning treament. You can buy them at Sallys and they are GREAT for dry hair. You shampoo your hair normally and then put the product on. Let it sit for how long it recommends on the package and rinse. It is not a permanent fix but they help in the long run. If your scalp is severely itchy, I'd go to the doctor. But if it's just when it's dirty, it's getting irritated by sweat or something like that. I would also recommend a scalp treatment!! They brush your scalp with a brush to get dry dead skin cells if your scalp and helps with the itching, plus they put conditioner on your scalp and message it to help hair growth and conditions the hair. They are amazing! I get them at the cosmetology school I go to!

I wash my hair every week with shampoo. I don't believe in co washing, I don't think it gets you hair or scalp clean. There's no rules you have to follow when it comes to your hair. If it's dirty wash it, regardless of how many times you do it a week.

I shampoo it every two weeks but I condition and rinse once a week. I was told that if you have super curly/kinky hair you can't shampoo it all the time.

Mine is curly, I sudjest wash after 4 or 5 days, condition daily. Also I use a V05 hot oil once per week

Don't use shampoo . Use conditioner . Also, you don't have to wash it . Just get a spray bottle & spritz your hair. You can rinse it out and use a conditioner to lock in moisture . But washing it thoroughly everyday .... It's bad for your hair . I'm Jamaican and Chinese & my hair is extra curly .

I trained mine. I started off washing every other day. On days I didn't wash I would still rinse it in the shower. Gradually increase days between washes. I was able to get mine to need washed only once a week MAX in just about 2 months.
