Hemorhroids in toddler?

Can a toddler get hemorrhoids and if yes what can you do to help? My 2.5 year old just started potty training a week ago and has only pooped twice so far, now he keep crying that his butt hurts and is itchy but his butt hole isn't red at all. I cant see that anything is wrong so I'm wondering if he has a hemorrhoid that i cannot see or if it just hurts because he has to poop and is holding it back but hes not complaining that his stomach hurts just his butt hole. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
