What birth control do you recommend?

I’m 18 years old and I’m ready to get birth control but don’t know which one is better for me. I been looking into the pill and the shot. Any opinions on those? I would like a birth control with few side effects

I've been on the pill for 14 years and have not had any issues or severe side effects.  It did take a little to get use however after 90 days of doing something consistently it became a habit so much so that I stopped taking the placebo pills after 5 years.  I'm now 2 week's from stopping the pill hopefully I'll be lucky to not have reverse side effects.

I gained a lot of weight on the shot, and it made me VERY sore at the injection site. I don’t recommend it to anyone, I think the pill is the best option.

In my opinion you should start off with the pill. Just set a time on when you want to take it and relate it to something you do at that time... I take mine at 9 pm right after I brush my teeth so I basically never forget. It’s also a good way to start using a birth control method because if you don’t like it or it’s side effect then it’s not too much of a commitment. On the other hand for example the implant once you get it in if you don’t like it then you would have to go to the doctor and get it removed. I love taking the pill because so far it has not caused any side effects such as spotting, headaches, acne or weight gain that the other methods from what I hear cause.

This may be not one of your options but i chose the implant cause it had the least side effects. (Mood swings, weight gain/loss, lighter periods). And it didn’t hurt! Also it’s a take it and forget it so you won’t have to worry about it for like 3-4 years depending on the person. But thoroughly research all your options as well, and you can ask your doctor which is best, too :)

The shot is pretty good but you gain weight which is a side effect of it
