My Dr. just scheduled my c-section for August 20th! I am excited but nervous. What was your recovery time like? Was it easy or hard? Any advise would be welcome😊

My recovery seemed agonizing and slow for the first 3 weeks and slowly got better after that. 
Take it a day at a time. Ask for and accept help until you feel you can do it yourself. Give yourself grace - you're having a baby and major abdominal surgery. Take pictures of your incision daily so you can compare the day to day and monitor for infection. Have some one take pictures of the c section and the stay in the hospital. I was far too loopy to remember and I'm glad my husband took pictures. Listen to your body. If you're doing too much you'll know it and you should take a step back.

Mine was super easy. Of course it was painful at times. The worst day was the day after the surgery where they stop doing pain meds through IV and start giving you pain pills. The pain really hit and it was terrible trying to get out of bed the first few times. 
Biggest piece of advice:
Take the pain meds as directed. Take the stool softener as directed. Make yourself walk and do things but don’t overdo it. Rest when you need to.

Recovery was a little rough the first 2-3 weeks. And I had random nerve pain off and on for a few months afterward. But honestly, overall the procedure itself was great! Nothing like I expected. I was terrified going into it, but I have no fear having another c-section when I get pregnant with my next baby.

My only advise is if you’re planning on breastfeeding get an advocate who will remind you to feed every 2 hours. The lactation consultant came in after they stitched me up and she was helpful but then I was on a lot of pain meds and couldn’t sit up for 4 hours and I was hangry.  I just didn’t think about breastfeeding and my parents were there and wanted to hold the baby. Next thing I know the consultant is back and I haven’t fed my baby in 6 hours. Now obv. She was fine, babies don’t really need to eat in the first day, but I’ve had supply issues and I always wonder if it stems back to those first 24 hours and how I just let time get away from me. Breastfeeding is supply-demand.  Next time I’m having my husband set a timer and we’ll see if I have the same issues or not.

I had a c-section 3 weeks ago and honestly it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I was up and walking the next morning, took a shower and was feeling semi ok, some soreness in my abdomen but that’s to be expected. Once I got home I took maybe 3-4 of the “extra” pain pills and have been just taking the prescription strength Tylenol. Bleeding wasn’t terrible either. I had a few clots while I was still in the hospital that kind of freaked me out but nurses said it was normal. Once I got home I was ready for a lot of bleeding but I really didn’t have that much. I did use the big mesh undies from the hospital for the first week or 2 because they were comfy and weren’t tight in the incision. Be sure you take everything left in your room for you and baby! Ask for extra sanitary items for you to take home, they’re better than what you can buy and good to have just in case!
