Why do people do this?

What is the purpose of taking ovulation test after ovulation day. I’m not trying to be rude I’m just curious what it’s supposed to mean does it tell you something during the tww?

When I was starting to track, I’d never done it before and wanted to see how many hours I had a smiley on the test so I could time my IUI correctly. My periods had been screwy for years and then I had an IUD with no period for 5 years, so I used strip tests every single day for 3 months, switching to the smiley test when it appeared a strip test was positive, then did smiley tests until it was just a circle again. Testing that much felt crazy, but I ended up with BFP after my first IUI so I was thankful I’d done it.
