A question towards the trans community/anyone who more than I do!

Heya so I have a question!I obviously understand what gender people are when the say ftm or mtf, but I’ve always gotten confused when people say transmale and transfemale. The best example I can remember is, one of the members of this community saying that they are Transmale and had gotten pregnant, does that mean they born Male who had surgery and managed to get pregnant, or born female and had gotten, but identifies as male?

Help, I am SO confused, and don’t want to offend anyone or misgender someone. It’s high key one of my biggest fears.
