Have you told your employer?

Question

Has anyone told their employer what they are going through for the flexibility to go to all the doctors appointments leading up IUI day? I don't feel comfortable telling my employer what is going on, and while they are being cooperative, they aren't happy that I have to keep coming in late and it's always last minute timing based on how unpredictable this all is.
Would love to hear how other people handled IUI with their employer!!

I told my boss before my first fertility specialist appointment. She told me she had friends that went through IVF and was totally understanding. She told me I can work remote on all my appointment days and has been 100% accommodating. She always tells me she’s thinking of me and asks how everything is going. 
My friend reports to my boss’ boss. And she told him when she was trying, too. Her job didn’t allow her to be remote but he told her not to worry about appointments and do what needed to be done. He was the first person in the office to know and she had JUST found out at that time. He was so excited and happy for her and kept her secret until she was ready to tell the whole office. 
I am very lucky to be a part of such a caring team ❤️ almost all of my coworkers know what I’m going through as well and have been so supportive over the years.

No. But I work remotely and we also have 20 paid sick days per year that we can use for de appointment.

I ended up telling mine -my principal (I am a teacher) because he asked my coworker about everything when I last minute had to leave and my colleagues worked together to cover my classroom. It was awkward and I think he regretted wanting to know but it did make me feel better about it. At the end I made a joke that I wasn’t pregnant yet but he’d have to get ready to hire a long term sub for me.

I told my boss and manager right away. They are like my second family though!  If you don’t feel comfortable with them, reach out to your HR department. They will let them know that you will be gone and they don’t have to give a reason for it!

I told my manager right away. The company I work for has a rule in place to allow 90min for doctors appointment. So by telling them early enough they aren’t allowed to fire me for it.

I told my boss what was going. It was stressful for me to keep missing work and thinking that 1)my boss thought I was interviewing 2) my boss thought I had poor work ethic. I went and told my boss that my husband and I had been trying to start a family with no luck and that I have been seeing a fertility doctor. It took a lot of my work stress away and my boss has been super supportive and keeps telling me to take care of my health first and foremost. It is truly up to you.. but I always feel that honesty is a lot better especially if you think your boss will be receptive to it.

I did! I have worked for mine for over ten years and they have been so supportive! Even with there bring a lot going on and not the most convenient for me to leave without much notice
