Cloth diapers?

Hi all, I am expecting my first baby early next year and as of now I’m keen on using cloth diapers. I wanted to hear about other moms’ experiences with reusable cloth diapers. I imagine it’s not as convenient as disposable diapers but is it sustainable when the baby is going through multiple changes a day? Also, do you use flushable inserts and then wash the diapers in the washer? 
Do you use them while traveling? I assume that would be a bit difficult. I have so many questions!!

We’ve done cloth with our first (who is now 15 months) since birth. We love it. We purchased newborn prefolds in the beginning, and were so glad we did, as baby goes through a ton of diapers a day. If exclusively breastfed, everything is water soluble and  can be thrown directly in the washer (yes, even poop). As long as you have a washer at home, cleaning the diapers is no biggie. We never run out of diapers because we just need to throw in a load and we suddenly have more. We never had a blowout with the newborn prefolds. In my opinion this is the easiest time to cloth diaper because everything is washable - no dumping or spraying. Yes, baby it grows newborn diapers around 3 months, but we have our 2nd on the way and our definitely saving money overall. 
When baby started solids we had to start dumping the poop in the toilet before washing. Again, not a big deal. We don’t use flushable liners - a lot of places ask you not to put anything (even flushable liners) down their toilets. Depending on your system, it can cause issues with your home toilet too. So I’d recommend no liner, or if baby’s poo is particularly messy and difficult to dump for a period of time, simply use a reusable liner that you can rinse off/spray off. 
When we’re out we just bring a wet bag, throw the dirties in, and deal with them when we get home. When we travel we just bring prefolds with us (we’ve used larger prefolds pad-folded in a cover since after the newborn phase) and a wet bag. As long as there’s a washing machine and dryer where we’re headed, there’s no need to worry about diapering being difficult. 
Definitely cheaper, especially if used for multiple children. Arguably more convenient than disposables (you never run out, poop gets on clothes way less).

I cloth diaper my two year old since she was 2 months. I use mama koala pocket diapers. I love cloth diapers and plan on cloth diapering my triplets after they are born. Depending how long the traveling is, I use cloth for weekend getaway but if it’s like two weeks and no access to washing machines then I just buy normal diapers. I think it’s worth the time to wash and fold the diapers. My daughter has super sensitive skin so it works out that I wanted to cloth anyway.

I am going too use them this time around. We are starting with disposable newborns because of babies size as well as using disposable when we travel. I don't plan on using disposable inserts. Also start getting them now because they can be pretty expensive to begin with but in the long run cheaper. Amazon has good deals!!!
