I bought my house 2 years ago when it was 11 years old. It came with a stacked washer and dryer with a tightly fit wooden frame around it. We had it inspected of course and the inspector said that he could not get behind the washer and dryer because of the frame and how heavy they are....

well fast forward to this year and we had to pull them out due to a problem with the washer and come to find out that our dryer has no ventilation hooked up and lint was literally just stuffed behind them. Our house was unknowingly a cinder box just waiting to ignite!! There is NO vent duct/hole in the wall of any kind. The vent on the dryer itself was literally just emptying right in the tiny space within the frame. This illegal for a contractor to do.

We really would like to avoid getting lawyers involved but I want to make sure that this contractor isn’t doing this with other homes. It is literally a life and death matter. Any advice on what we should do for others’ safety??

Btw, we are in the process of having a vent installed which is a big hassle.
