Baby name too similar?

We like the name Allie, but our best friends daughters name is Natalie....is that too similar and would be weird? I have not heard them use Allie as a nickname but it's basically the 2nd half of their babies name sooooo wasn't sure if it matters. I am sure we will be naming her Allie regardless, guess I just wanted others thoughts on if I am overthinking this.

I get that they are your close friends and all, but I’d never let the names of non family members dissuade you from a name you really love. There is no guarantee that you will even be friends with this family 5 years from now. People grow apart, they move away. Your daughter will be with you forever, so put the name you love first and foremost. If they ever mention it, which I don’t think they would because it’s not too similar imo anyway, just say that great minds think alike.
