I’ve decided to make a Dr. appt. We’ve been TTC for 8 months and it’s exhausting. What will they start with?

Will they typically start with bloodwork and an ultrasound for me or will they want a sperm analysis done first? We tried for 8 months last year then got pregnant, had a miscarriage. Waited 2 months then started trying again and it’s been 8 months or so. I know you’re supposed to wait a full year but it’s really taking a toll on me! Advice??? 😕

I went to doctor at 10 months and they wouldn’t even help me. It’s very frustrating. So my advice would be to fib! Say it has been a year so they will help you now. Now by the time I get things going it will be over a year of trying.

My main recommendation is to go somewhere that will do a sperm analysis. A fertility clinic will probably do it without asking many questions, whereas your OBGYN will possibly not do anything since you’re under a year. I understand the one year rule, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t beyond frustrating to follow it!
I wouldn’t recommend lying, as you don’t want to have to jump into medications and IUIs if you don’t have to. We did a semen analysis at six months just because it was the cheapest and “easiest” test, and it’s a good way to eliminate one problem at least. I hope you get some answers, I truly believe the first year is the hardest!
