Honestly, you really shouldn't be putting anything on it or in it.  Wash with warm water and a very mild antimicrobial soap (like dial bars) don't wash more than once a day (unless needed)  your vagina pretty much cleans itself but having lots of sex and not cleaning properly can make it smell bad.  
Also as a PS- the foods you eat and drink can affect smell and taste
