Why won’t my kid sleep on his own?!!!

My back is killing me from having to carry him while he sleeps! 
I need some advice please

Are you using a swaddle sack?

Mine was doing this for several days last week, or if I did put her down she would sleep for like 10 mins and then wake up screaming. Honestly, the last two days I have really tried to make sure she was getting quality naps- no loud noises, no bright lights, one after every feeding, and it has helped tremendously. Had to hold her at first, but the last 2 days I’ve been able to put her in a swaddle sack and put her laying down (not even dead asleep!) and she will go to sleep on her own. In our case, when she wasn’t getting great, longer, uninterrupted naps, she was really clingy and would cry a lot. The last two days have been SO much better. Look up the babywise method, that’s what I have been trying to follow and so far it’s working great.
