Lukas was Born on July 8th, 436am.

My due date was July 6th. That morning I woke up mega pissed I wasn’t in labor lol. Was a grump to everyone that day, and went to bed! Woke up at 330 am July 7th.. out of my sleep to cramps, and shaking uncontrollably. They were bareable but they were 4-5 minutes apart and pretty consistent. So I decided to wake up my boyfriend and head over to my moms! (I have a midwife and I wanted to labor at home for awhile first). Things get long here... things never really progressed to much faster at this point, my contractions didn’t get much closer together maybe averaging 4 minutes apart but they got more intense. I called my midwife around 1030 and told her things are getting slightly closer but nothing crazy. At this point I haven’t ever been checked for dilation my whole pregnancy. So she checked me when she came and I was only 2cm and 90% effaced.. my midwife left and gave me a tens machine to manage contractions for when they get bad, I had it on pretty much all day after this point. For anyone who doesn’t know what that is.. it’s a machine that sends electronic shocks to your spine and back when prompted so while your at the peak of a contraction you press boost and get a surge of energy! It actually helps, but it also hurts at the same time. My midwife told me to just try and sleep as much as I could as I was up all night. So I took gravol and tried sleeping contractions woke me up everytime and were WAY worse laying down. So I went downstairs and walked around with the machine and noticed I had to keep turning it up. Hours later I decided to call my midwife because I hadn’t heard anything.. and I didn’t know where I was at. My contractions at this point were actually less frequent but way stronger. She told me that they would get closer and more strength. So I just said ok.. and went about my time. Around 1030 pm I got to the point where it was pretty unreal pain and I had to literally squeeze my butt together because I thought he was going to come out!!!. I called and she said “I can come check you if you want but by how you are sounding on the phone with me I can tell you have lots of time to go”. Ok, contractions still 6-8 minutes apart... but I’m not joking when I tell you he felt like he was going to come out of my butt. By 1230 midnight I was puking and having contractions that were making me feel the need to push, I peed and there was my bloody show so I KNEW it was time. I called my midwife and said “I’m going to the hospital now with or without you it’s time I KNOW IT” I got there around 130, the nurses looked at me like I wasn’t in labour put me in a room. Grabbed the garbage and puked 3 more times.. she checked me and I was 7CMs! and things got fast from there.. I kept telling her I needed to push with the contractions so she checked and I was a 9. So she let me stop fighting against them. THANK GOD for my ass at this point.. pushed for 30 minutes and he was out. 2 days later and I still feel like he came out of my butt and feel like my tailbone is broken! Remind me again why I got no drugs (I wouldn’t have had time anyways) .. mainly this story tells me to stick to my gut and follow it. I would have been a lot more comfortable if I left at 10pm when I should have! 25 hours of labour but only 5 of active hard labor. While nobody believed me until I was in transition 🤦‍♀️ apparently you need to be screaming your face off for them to think it’s go time!
