ADVICE ???

Hey guys so I’m 30w 5 days, back in February my ob wanted me to take an early glucose test since me levels where elevated. Took it passed. Last month i took the test again becuase that was the appropriate time to test and past. Last week at my appointment she asked if i had eaten before the test i said no aren’t you supposed to fast before the test? She says no I’m supposed to eat and my test results are inaccurate... Now she’s saying i have to test again at this point I’m done with it because i have co pays when get the blood work and it’s not done at my OB office.... advice ?

You can absolutely tell them you don’t want to take it again. Some doctors have you fast and some don’t. They should have been more specific in telling you what to do before the test. However, remember that you have options. If you don’t want to do another test just tell them no. And ask what your other options are.

Working in OB this is a fasting test and if you eat your levels are messed up. You should not even smoke if you do smoke because it can elevate the levels and say falsely that you are a gestational diabetic. I would talk to the doctor that lab tech or medical assistant has no clue what they are talking about.

I fasted for mine and the texh essentially said its recommended because if you eat it could possibly skew the results. Iike if you have a donut or muffin
