22 and sober

I’m 22 and sober from alcohol and weed it’s coming up 5 years now and when I tell people this they seem to always say things along the lines of you were young it mustn’t have been a real problem. I don’t know what’s so hard to understand that a young person could have a problem like this and instead of it controlling my life untill I was older I made a change and stopped it. I started drinking alcohol when I was 12 and basically drunk everyday until my 18th birthday.

I had a bad childhood my mum wasn’t in the picture and my dads an alcoholic so I had no trouble getting alcohol.
