CNA??

Question

What’s it like being a cna? Do you enjoy it? Is it worth it? Along with the pay? I start classes next month and I’m getting mixed feelings maybe just nervous? Has anyone stayed a cna without moving up and did you like it?  I’ll take any opinions and information!

I work at a hospital for $14 an hour, I have no certification other than BLS. It's hard work but it's not bad. Just long, tiring days.

#1if you're  not passionate about helping and taking care of other its not fo you
#2 even during  your clinicals you should get an idea if its something you'd  enjoy doing
#3when looking for a job ask these questions(not tbat they always matter. (Whats the patient to aide ratio) (may i job shadow beforr taking a position)(  is  their a shift differential) ( how many residents are in the building)
Pros-flexible hours, sometimes flexible  pay, caring for people you know need you, christmas parties. 
Cons-its back breaking work, so much drama from other workers, managment  doesnt alqays help when youre low staff  so get use to doing all you can, charting sucks but make sure its accurate and make sure you do not chart on anyone  that you did not do
Tips- if you can answer the call light even if its not "your hall"
If theirs an accident  dont be afraid  report immediately .
Ask for help if you need it even if you have to knock on managements door demand it. 
Stay patient keep in mind they have rights like you and i if they want to eat their desert first let them!
If you work dayshift get in the and get started with get ups no time to tall breakfast  comes to quick
If youre nightshift  and someone wants to sleep in let them!!!! But if youre able to dress anyone else to help out day shift do it. Even picking out clothes for the morning goes a long way.
Raise the bed you may not have time but it will save you qt the end of the day
Theirs a lot of pros, cons and tips i can  give but you'll  have so many different experiences. I hope you love and enjoy it! Put your all into it everyday! Enjoy it learn from it then move up if thsts something youd like to do!
Hospital, longterm care, hospice, dialysis assistant, homecare, they all deserve  as much care as we can give them
Ive been an aide for almost years just started clinics for my qma license i currently  work in a long term care facility  that i absolutely  love ive worked as an aide at 6 other buildings ive also done homecare. Anyways....congratulations  :)

I work in skilled nursing facility. I love it personally but you HAVE to want to do this job. Some girls come in and they’re not WANTING to do this job and it shows. Just realize these are people just like you who actually need your help. Currently 10 weeks pregnant and still working steady pace with my residents. I personally love it but if you want a idea of it, try to see if you can shadow someone for a day. You’d most likely need your CPR cert to shadow. I prefer LTC because you have the same patients for longer periods of time, hospital setting you don’t.
