Should I wait to switch to another birth control?

So I took birth control pills for about a year because of irregular periods and I also used it as protection because I’ve been sexually active and so I stopped the pills because I wasn’t good at taking them on time and I wanted to try the depo so I got the shot this year in March I believe and ever since then I’ve had so many changes mentally and physically and it just wasn’t good... so I was supposed to go in and get the 2nd shot July 5th but I didn’t because I want to stop and now I want to go back to the pill but do you think I should wait like 2 months to take it just to give my body a break and a chance to get back to normal or should I get on it right away?? I’m really sexually active and I don’t want to get pregnant anytime soon but I don’t want to mess up my body....Please help!
