How painful is HyCoSy testing?

Well we hit a milestone and had our first fertility appointment today 🎉

We left feeling hopeful and anxious. Part of our full testing work up is me having a HyCoSy. As soon as my doctor explained what it was I said “that sounds painful”. She was like well, it depends on who performs it and after over a decade of patients we’ve learned these technicians at this ultrasound clinic do the best job with the least amount of pain....but take some ibuprofen beforehand.

Even when I have a pap smear I feel something between horrifying twinge and pain and all around weirdness. So I’m quite nervous about having a catheter inserted through my cervix into my uterus. Obviously it’s all worth it and (I’m sure!) a million percent less pain than childbirth, I just want some advice! Any input is welcome 💕
