Questions: engaged!

So me and my so are planning to get engaged even though we haven't been together for the "traditional" two year time but you know when your first love appears, getting engaged just sounds so wonderful!

However, we don't want to get married. Will the engagement leave us at a point of getting stuck? How do you cope with people's wedding question plans?
