MSPI diet
Hi everyone,
For a while my pediatrician had us on a dairy free, soy free diet because he thought she might have an allergy to the proteins. I remember feeling absolutely distraught thinking about how I was going to change my diet, but I ended up finding some good things. We just had her diapers tested and they came back clean, so I can resume my normal diet, but I’m sure there’s some of you who are clueless like I was. Here’s what I ate!
-Sandwiches (deli meat is usually safe, Daiya makes dairy & soy free provolone cheese slices that aren’t THAT bad, and I’d usually add Avocado, hummus, mustard, lettuce & tomato)
-Avocado toast for breakfast (bread from your grocery stores actual bakery likely doesn’t have soy flour, just make sure you ask if the ingredients aren’t listed, but most name brand loaves that aren’t made fresh in stores have soy)
-lots of fresh produce for breakfast
-honey nut Cheerios
-Lara bars (only some are soy free so make sure you check)
-Perdue simply smart chicken tenders (a lot of barbecue sauces are safe, I used sweet baby rays)
-I made a sloppy joe pasta that was really good. (Most of your typical dinner recipes are safe just swap diary where necessary, and check for soy)
-Sheet pan chicken & veggies
-Chicken and rice
SNACKS THAT ARE SAFE -
-pop corners chips (I know sea salt & kettle corn sre safe)
-Oreos & nutter butters (contain soy lecithin and soybean oil, but most babies with soy sensitivities can tolerate this since they’re emulsifiers and not direct proteins)
-Cape cod brand chips (sea salt)
-most salsas and corn tortilla chips
-hummus & veggies is always a go to
-halo top dairy free ice cream (I believe all the flavors that are dairy free are soy free)
-and for butter, I used the smart balance buttery spread (green container)
GOOD LUCK to any of you struggling with this change. I know it was challenging for me and I only did two weeks!!
