How will you be birthing??

Question

As this is my first baby I have no previous experience, but would like to have as natural a birth as possible, as I am based in the UK we have birthing centres which specialise in water births and I'm seriously considering it 😊 also I'm currently reading up about 'hypnobirthing' 👍🏼 how will you be birthing and where?also if you have any previous labour experience it would be great to here if you will be birthing the same way or differently to your first time

I have no plan. Hoping for less unnecessary medical intervention as possible, but we shall see. Not sure about epidural either, kind of want to see how far I can get without it and if I can't get too far, then epidural it is! Also, my hospital has rooms with bathtubs and I like the idea of spending labor hours in one of them, however, when it will come time to deliver I'll be out. It's all coming so soon!!!

I really liked the idea of a water birth with dd but I moved to Tennessee, and there's no center around here, but my doctor said that fecal matter is pushed into the water and does get into baby's lungs and can cause infections, so I'm glad I didn't do it. you might want to check into some research on that. I didn't do any more fact checking or research after that because it wasn't an option here anyway... but that to say, with dd I was induced at 40 weeks because it insured I got to have my doctor who I trusted but we discovered my pelvis was too small and I had to have a c-section. when I finally get pregnant with #2, I will talk to my doctor and see if she thinks another c-section is my only option or what... so I'm not sues how it will go when the time comes..

I really wish i had the option for the water birth, but my hospital doesn't have that. My sister in law did it and it was wonderful she said! With Mason I avoided telling the nurse my water broke because it did so on the way to the shower lol. I was determined to at least get a hot shower!! I am at risk for needing another induction if my fluid drops again. So I will not be delaying the epidural if that be the case for me this time lol. I had an appointment this morning and I am measuring small. Have been for past 2 visits. I was supposed to go for a high risk scan in 2 weeks but they moved it to next week as a result. Could be small baby, could be fluid again. If it is fluid they said they would still want me to go to 37 weeks. So we will see!! I know you guys have more options in UK than we have. I would have loved to try the gas as an option for pain if needed to avoid more. But after what happened with Mason I kinda just don't have any expectations lol. Anything can happen! I wish I could be strong and no meds, but I remember those induction meds and the pain and I really want to be a little more with it when Maddox arrives than i was with Mason. I seriously couldn't function to care for myself! And I had a mini breakdown the second night after his birth in the hospital with my husband, I was so distraught from being tired and worn out and not knowing how to manage it.

My plan is to take it as it comes! I'm not against an epidural or pain meds but I don't want them if I don't need them. I have always had a pretty high pain tolerance, but birth may change that lol. I definately want to remain as active as I can in my early stages of labor before i would have to have an epidural and be bed bound. I would have liked to hire a doula but I don't have the $$ unfortunately! Would like to avoid a c section at all costs, but of course will be willing in an emergency. There are so many possibilities that I just don't want to get my hopes up on a set plan!!

My plan with Mason was a non medicated birth in the hospital. However, at 38 weeks my amniotic fluid was really low and I had to be induced. I did my best to avoid medicine other than the induction, but damn!! I had just worked 2 13 hour shifts in the Er, the next morning I was up super early to drive the hour to the high risk dr for an early appt so i had little sleep. That appt is when they said I had to be induced. After 25 hours of labor with no sleep because of intense contractions non stop with no breaks (because of induction meds, they were peaking on top of each other), I gave in. I was throwing up, shaking and exhausted. I asked for an epidural and they said I may not be able to because they had a few emergency csections (they put you on a list in order of request and emergencies). I about died. My nurse fought for me and I was able get the epidural. Which didn't work 100%. Only on right side. They kept trying but it would only work if dr pushed meds not the normal drip. So they did that every hour. After 30 hours, 1.5 of pushing, Mason was here! And I was exhausted! I could barely take care of him I was almost delirious at that point. 😝
