My job is really trying to keep me
Sorry this is so long! I just have no one to really to talk to about it that isn’t bias or think I’m dumb for quitting in the first place.
Last week I gave notice to my job that I wasn’t coming back, fully intending to be a stay at home mom. I went in the next day and handed them my badge and laptop.
They’re trying so hard to keep me that they want to try to create a part time position for me, fully working from home, at 50% of my salary. Based on part time daycare rates in my area it looks like after paying for daycare, I’ll be left with about $600 give or take.
It’s not official yet but it looks like it’s a strong possibility this position can be created. I’ve absolutely never seen them work so hard to get someone to stay, it’s a large multi billion dollar company. So I’m conflicted.
Here are my issues:
What if I don’t like the job? It’s different than what I was doing before. I don’t think they would fill the position if I left and I don’t want to burn bridges if that’s the case.
I can’t look at my daughter and think of someone else caring for her without crying 😭 I think its because I feel guilty since I do have the opportunity to be a stay at home mom and don’t need to work.
My husband really prides himself on being able to support us so I can stay home with our daughter. He’s always wanted his kids not to go to daycare and be home. He does support me on whatever I want to do, but he doesn’t know if working for $600 a month (after daycare) is worth it.
We’ve talked about TTC next July, and I wouldn’t work at that point as my salary would just cover daycare if we had 2 kids in daycare part time. But that’s also a year away.
What would you do if you were in my shoes?! 😭
