Are you adopted?

Question

The baby's father is leaving the picture. As a child of divorce I don't want my child to go through what I did. Not to mention I would be struggling financially.

I am scared to give the baby up for adoption because of how they will feel as they get older.

If you are adopted I have a question for you....would you rather of grown up with your struggling single mother, or your adoptive parents?

I was adopted !!! And I wouldn't change it at all . I was born in Colombia to a very young poor mother. She knew she couldn't care for me and wanted me to have a better life. I had the best life growing up and still do even though I'm about to get married andnewely pregnant. I can't imagine my life with any other family. Everyone's situation is different and you have to do what you think is best for you and your child.

I am not adopted, but my sister's four kids are, and I have several friends who were. I have never heard any of them say they feel like they were abandoned by their birth mother, but rather that they admire her courage to make a difficult choice to give them the opportunity for a stable family life. Adoption is such a beautiful thing!!! I agree with the other commenter who suggested talking to counsellors who can help you make the right choice for you and your baby.

My best friend and her twin were adopted. Their mom was 16 and unable to care for them. In their case it was the best option as their adoptive parents were "stable" and "ready" for children. I put that in quotes because I literally have no idea what it means to be ready to be a parents ha. Every situation is different. Talk to a counselor and have them give you options and resources regarding keeping the baby and adoption. My cousin also adopted and they have an open adoption with the birth family, and it's actually really cool to see. You have time to make a decision.

I would strongly encourage you not to base your decision on your child's hypothetical future feelings. There is just no way to predict who your child will be (like you? like a random stranger below?) or feel. The best you can do is make what you believe is the best-possible decision for your baby's future. That is what will ultimately affect your child the most - knowing you made the best choice you could out of love for them.

I wasn't adopted but my mom was 16 when she had me. She gave me the best life that she could and never ever made me doubt the love she had for me. However, even though I never went without anything I needed, we always struggled and I know she gave up her life at 16 to raise me. It gave us a really special bond but sometimes I wonder what it would have been like for both of us if she had given me up for adoption. She hid her pregnancy for 7 months and when she finally told her mom, her mom was supportive but told her that she was absolutely not giving me up. I can't help but think about what it would have been like. All I know is that the love my mother had/has for me really really conquered it all. But it was seriously seriously hard. She never married anyone and my dad, though now super successful, married a bitch that didn't like me. But both of my parents are super successful now. Still....Where would I be in my life if I had gone to the best schools and given the best of everything? Can't say for sure. But I did just graduate from Boston University which is an amazing school...so it's really all about how YOU choose to handle the situation. And it is 100% up to YOU.

My mother had me at 16. My father at the time was a low life who was drugged up constantly. Although my mom had help through her parents- it was still hard. I had everything I needed even when she went without. But if I were adopted I'm not sure how I'd had turned out. My mother doesn't deserve the mother of the year award. But I never once asked where my father was. I never begged to have dinner. I never begged for a jacket when it was cold. My mother played two roles. Even though she had me at 16 she became very successful. Successful with 5 children and no help from the father's. But she does it, all by herself. Personally, I think giving the baby up for adoption is silly. There are so many mothers like yourself who have succeed with life while having multiple children on their hips. I think you can do it. You just have to have the strength to do so. ♡ much love girl. You got this.
