Did you/are you planning to refuse a fundal massage?

I am going to be refusing the post birth fundal massage if it's attempted and was wondering if anyone else has done/plans on doing the same? Not looking for hate or reasons not to refuse, I will punch anyone who tries to touch my stomach post delivery with no hesitation😂let me die fr

I respect your choice, however, if you're wanting to actually do this, I would suggest being very careful and watching your postpartum bleeding. The contacting of your uterus after birth is what helps control your bleeding. My son was born on Monday, and my uterus refused to contract on its own causing a lot of hemorrhaging. I almost ended up back in the OR needing a blood transfusion and either a D&C or hysterectomy. The only thing that saved me from that was my nurse's diligence to making sure she could feel my uterus contacting every time she came in and taking the extra time to massage a bit more depending on how much I was bleeding. I still ended up needing an extra day of observation. 
Please, be careful with this as it could possibly put your life at risk.

They do it to avoid infection. I knew someone who refused and she almost died from the infection.

I’m right there with you. Gently feel to check sure but nothing rough like last time. If I understand correctly having it be the norm is an exclusively American practice. They aren’t going to abuse me unless I need it.

I personally wouldn’t refuse this. They did it on me post c section and I was scared it would hurt with an incision right there and it wasn’t bad at all. They just gentle pushed in and made sure my uterus was contracting and gardening and that’s it. No digging massage or anything of the sort. I wouldn’t risk hemorrhaging.

They did this with my first and second baby and I HATED it! It hurt so bad they never gave me an option they just told me they needed to get it out as fast as possible. 🤷‍♀️ it took 40 minutes to deliver my first born placenta and 20 for my second born. And they pulled on it OMG! That shit hurt worse than the contractions.
