Should you have to pay for a recalled part on your car? We were told it would be reimbursed, but why are we paying to begin with?

also, should they give a loaner car if you’re only form of transportation is affected by this recalled part? Our car is currently not under warranty. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it or not. We have a 2013 Dodge Dart. We bought the car brand new at the dealership. Our car is currently stuck in park and cannot even be moved, (due to this recall!) so it will also need to be towed to the dealership. Which they’re also saying we will have to pay for. Am I missing something here?

They should pay for it because its a manufacturer error and defect. They should pay for everything and ied throw a fit if they didnt

I would have the dealership pay for the cost of towing also. As one person said, they probably want to make sure that the issue you’re having is as a result of the problem they caused and not something else before they pay for it. We own a used car dealership and have absolutely no faith in most cars past I would say 2008 or even earlier. I’m sorry you’re experiencing this. Chrysler has been having massive transmission problems across their entire lineup for years now...my sister in law bought a 2017 Jeep and it’s already needing the motor to be replaced. They’re focusing too much on technology and sacrificing build quality. This goes for all makes and models...it’s a shame.

If it’s a recall generally they cover it. But in cases where they’re saying you’ll be reimbursed has to do with the fact that some cars have this issue and some don’t which leads the company to pay for cars who don’t have the issue to go and get it fixed jus to be on the safe side when there was never a problem.atleast this is how it was explained to me when you tune in your papers for reimbursement they contact the place hat did the work and find out if there was a actual issue or if you just brought it to be safe. As for towing I think typically that falls under the owners costs

As long as it’s in the time frame it should be covered. My Toyota has a recalled airbag and they covered the recall as well as a loaner that I had for 3 days. But I think you’re supposed to make an appointment within a certain amount of time before they just won’t cover it anymore. Not too sure I just know all the recall notices I got and ignored all had dates to schedule by. Maybe dodge works differently. Could you try a different dodge dealership?

Definitely not. They should pay for the tow and the parts. Makes no sense for me to pay for the part and you guys give me my money back. You should already have the parts and put them on.

If the vehicles warranty hasn’t expired and you are going to the dealership in which you purchased, you should not be paying for a recall.

i would call Ford like the 1800 number & speak with someone in customer care. I had so many problems like this with Jeep they paid for my towing and everything
