Baby afraid of tummy time after roll over

St

Steph

Hey, yesterday she managed to roll over for the very first time, and today she doesnt really want to do tummy time and cries so bad in less than 1 minute. She let go both of her hand and spit up and burped continuously. Should I not make her do tummy time for a day or two? It’s been like this for the past two tummy time session and I am a little concerned.. please advise.. thanks!

I’m definitely not a professional in the area but I’d be surprised if she could remember one bad instance like that - I only say that because I’m not sure they could associate things that quickly like we do (tummy time = that scary feeling I had when I accidentally rolled over once!) - she could possibly be picking up on your nerves to put her down again (maybe, if you were anxious to do it!) - otherwise, I’m not sure but I’m sure it’s just a phase! Keep the good tummy time up ☺️

My sons never did tummy time as it wasn’t a “thing” when they were born! They were both on target for turning over, crawling and walking and are both big tall strong boys! So I wouldn’t put any pressure on this tummy time thing! Even my doctor joked about it the other day! They get plenty of head control from being held and walked around and being on your tummy. They will gradually roll over and then want to be on their tummy and then crawl all in good time x ps I hope your little one is ok x

Hi yeah on your little one rolling!!! I only know from my experience of a few years being an infant teacher. I am a first time mama both are so different. But spitting up can happen when belly is full and that pressure from doing tummy time can cause that. Also babies will learn sometimes to roll over when they are upset because they are kicking and moving their core. So my personal advice is you are doing awesome and to keep practicing tummy time. Even if it for short bits of time and even if baby is fussy. Best wishes.
