Screening tests?

Did anyone say no to the Down syndrome screening test? If so why didn’t you want it? Everyone’s calling me stupid because I said no to it.

I said no to it twice. As nice as it would be to know ahead of time, my doctor suggested if I were going to continue the pregnancy regardless of the results, why risk possibly introducing infection?

I'm not allowed it where I live as abortion is illegal and for some reason they believe people would seek abortions based on the result I guess. Given the chance I would have it for me personally, I'd like to know so I could be prepared for whatever additional medical needs may come up.

I did but my results came back negative. My boy did end up have trisomy 21 but I'm so glad I didn't know beforehand. I think I and other people would have had different ideas of who he would be and I wouldn't have it any other way. I will not be doing testing again!

i tested at risk w/ my first, did the genetic screening after instead of amnio & it came back negative (he didnt have it), i have had the test w/ my other two kids and plan on getting it again.

I did because it was offered to me for free with my insurance & I jumped at finding out the gender early lol

I’ve never had it.  Too many false positives cause mama’s to stress out while they wait weeks for more invasive testing.  Stress isn’t good for mom or baby.  If something appeared off on my anatomy scan, it would have been looked into further.
