18weeks too soon to start shopping for the baby?

Question

Just found out the gender this weekend, and since then I’ve been buying a few things. Mostly clothing. But is it too soon? Should I wait until after the baby shower? (Not even sure if I’ll have one). Thoughts? 
Also, if you could please comment what would you start buying around this time?

Honestly the only thing I bought prior to my baby shower at 34 weeks was our car seat/travel system. I waited until after the shower and went and bought the rest of the essentials. Got so many clothes that I just bought a few more plain onesies and socks and that was it

If you aren't sure if you're going to have a shower and you see something on sale I would buy it, but if you're going to make a registry that has a completion discount then I would wait to buy anything you can add on there.

Totally! You never know what people will get for your shower if you have one. I started shopping way early (3rd baby, no shower) but family has graciously gifted stuff. If I get duplicates or things I don’t necessarily need I’ll exchange for diapers or other items we still need.

Once you know the gender I think it’s perfect time. I wouldn’t go crazy but of course getting prepared is definitely the right thing. I told my boyfriend once we found out next week, I wanna start buying things each paycheck. (Were having a baby shower) but I still wanna get things on my own.

I’m 29 weeks and we got a crib, bassinet, pack n play and car seat. I got maybe 2-3 outfits for him including a going home outfit. 
I am waiting till after both of my baby showers to finish up then go shopping. I don’t wanna buy something and then get the same thing at baby shower . 
Some people start stacking up on diapers right away but I don’t want to until I know which one he fits into better. I bought 5-6 boxes of different brands and I’ll see from there.

Think it depends, I started shopping at 20 weeks with my first and then had my baby shower and got so much more so I waited until after my baby shower this time and bought everything I needed after. 
You can never go wrong on stalking up on diapers and wipes

Meant to hit shop on! Girl it ain't too early. I'd start looking for sales on clothes! Can't pass up a good deal especially when it's on cute baby clothes!
