Unexpected miscarriage

We found out at our 9 week sono that we had an empty gestational sac. Two weeks prior there was a heartbeat. I am completely devastated. I have an appt tues to go over my options, if I want to take the medicine to pass it or have surgery. Surgery causes more scar tissue in the uterus making it more difficult to conceive. We had been trying for 3 yrs with his one. So I have two questions. Which method should I go with and for those of you who have gone through this and able to have a successful pregnancy, how long did it take to get pregnant again?
