Using soap on my new nose piercing?🤷🏼♀️
Exactly 4 weeks ago I got my helix pierced and went to a piercer about an hour away because I was also planning on shopping that day. In my area and surrounding area we don’t exactly have spectacular piercers unfortunately. He told me to clean my helix with antibacterial dial soap. After doing my own research I found that is no longer recommended because of certain chemicals that are now advised to stay away from. I decided to use Johnson and Johnson baby soap for my helix because it has none of the harsh chemicals that should not be used. Today I went to a local piercer and she told me to clean my nose piercing with dove unscented soap. I was looking at the ingredients and it also has some harsh sounding chemicals that are probably also advised to avoid with a healing piercing. So my question is soap or no soap?? I asked her if I could use the baby soap and she said that would be fine, but with my helix I had issues with super itchy skin along the outside of my ear and on my actual piercing. I know it can be signs of healing, but after I stopped using the soap the itching seemed to go away. I plan on cleaning my nose the same as my helix. Saline on a q tip for crust and blood and then some h2ocean spray, but is the soap needed. I explained to her my care routine for my helix and she said it’s all fine for the nose but that I need to use soap. I’m just super confused because some people say use it and others don’t.🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤔
