Mucus Plug Question

This is my second pregnancy but I didn't lose my plug before my water broke with my first so this is a new experience for me. I started losing chunks of my plug early this morning. The past few wipes have had a very small amount of blood in the plug. It's bright red and not brown blood. Should I call my doctor or is that normal? I'm seeing a mixture of answers online. I went to L&D earlier this week with a false alarm and they mentioned calling if I notice blood but I'm not sure this qualifies...
