Amniotic band syndrome!?

Hello everyone, I just had a baby 7/17/19 & he has missing digits (toes and fingers). One hand and both feet. I did not know about this till he was born, I had ultrasounds every two weeks and I was never told anything. I don’t care he’s perfect in every way to me and his daddy. 🥰😍
I just wanted to know has anyone else had a baby born with this? Did you have surgery for his/her missing digits? Why did you decide to do it? 
I want to have surgery for his hand because people can be so cruel in this world and it hurts my heart. But he also uses his special hand so much and I don’t want to take that away from him.

I think it depends on if fingers are missing or if they are fused.  Most hand surgeons will not operate on fused fingers until kiddo is older (I’m a peds nurse) because they have to be big enough for there to be enough skin to cover.  I say you give him some time to grow and ultimately do what will be functionally best for him.  Kids will always find some reason to tease and be cruel, so that would not be my reason for doing the surgery.  And even with the surgery, his hand may never look ‘normal’ though he may gain a whole lot more function.  He is so handsome!

I know my sister was born with no toe bones and she grew up fine with it. She just had little stubs and learned to walk normally with it. I'm not sure about the hand though. He's precious either way! I have crooked pinkies and my mom always told me I was kissed by an angel and it caused me to love my pinkies even when people made fun of them. 
I also have a nephew that is handicapped and had webbed fingers and toes and they did surgery on his hands and he can't bend his fingers now. He uses his hands very well now. 
Also know that no matter what kids will be cruel. They find anything and everything to pick on them for. The best thing you can do is if you don't choose surgery make him proud of himself the way he is. Show him every day how capable he is and nothing slows him down. ❤️❤️
