3 weeks old - update.
Harriet is now 3 weeks old (29 weeks corrected).
With micro prems they usually call the first week of life the honey moon period. I definitely get why now. The first week was pretty smooth sailing, whereas the following two have been one huge rollercoaster.
Since that first week (where she was basically on CPAP full time, bar a couple of days) Hattie has only had 5 hours where she hasn’t had her breathing tube in. Without it in she was dropping her oxygen saturations down to the 20’s and forgetting to breathe.
She has had a blood transfusion, and is due for another in the next couple of days.
Late last week we found out that she also has pneumonia, after her oxygen requirements, even when ventilated, went up to max levels, and it was discovered her lungs had started to collapse.
She has been treated for a heart issue(extremely common in micro prems) known as a PDA, and we will have another heart scan later today to see if her PDA has closed or not following treatment.
She’s definitely a little feisty girl, who knows what she likes (and doesn’t like) and isn’t afraid to let her care team know.
I’m definitely missing loads of information here, but I’m struggling to think straight, and i know there were a few people who asked me to post updates, after I posted that she was born.

She’s now 1.1kg (2lb 4oz) after being 788grams (1lb 7oz) after birth.
