UTI while pregnant

Has anyone else gotten a UTI while pregnant and was prescribed amoxicillin for it? What dosage did you doctor give y’all? My doctor gave me 500 mg every 12 hours but also said I can half it and make it 250 mg every 8 hours if I wanted which is very confusing to me. Would it be safer to take a smaller dose every 8 hours instead of 12 or just better to do it every 12 hours? Before y’all ask idk why he would give me 2 options to choose from either lol.
