Would you be butthurt?

I was talking about how handsome my son is and my sons father goes “he’s about average, he’s not the best looking baby out there but he’s not ugly” 
And when I got mad he said he wasn’t biased like I am 
Idk I just don’t understand how he doesn’t wake up every morning and become in awe with how beautiful our little guy is 
But to not even think he’s anything but.. average? 
I couldn’t imagine my parent saying that about me

It depends how he says it. When my son was handed over to me, my thoughts were like "ohh, he aint that cute." He had a grey skin that looked hrs like a crisp- it fell off from day 3 and within a week was completely gone. His head, damn he weighed 11 pounds but his chubbiness was for world cup. I couldn't even see his eyes. All swollen up. I didn't want to say it but I thought it. My friend came to visit me 3 days later and mind you, baby looked much cuter and she said he had a big head. I know her for Saying things as they are and what comes to her mind. I burst out and laughed. I knew she was right. And it didn't hurt. It didn't mean he is ugly. Trust me girl, you are saving yourself a lot of pain if you see baby as he is. Doesn't mean u say it to the child, but don't be mad when another says it. Unless if they say it to the child and it is affecting the child's confidence. Because trust me, soon it won't be just your husband saying it but your neighbor, friend, strangers. You need tough skin. And how you react will determine how your baby reacts or feels.  
Anyway, fast forward. 4 weeks old, my very polite friend said it to me and my husband that my baby's head is big. Mind you this wasn't the first time she saw him. But I guess this time she felt safe enough to say it. I laughed and said to my husband..."you see, I told you" see my reaction made it pass. I could have tensed up and kicked them out of my house but no! Why should I if it is true. I had had the same conversation with my husband the night before. He felt bad I said our baby's head looks big. He didn't not even disagree which I know he feels the same way but would never say it. Lol.  My midwife had a more polite way of saying it. She went like " his face gets longer each day" truth is, my son had a normal head but it looks so huge because of all the big cheeks. From behind you can see how tiny it is. But from the front, wow. And am not mad about some people trying to say it. 
One fact remains. Babies change as they grow. If someone feels the need to point out STH they don't like about your baby, and it is true, then be rational about it because it is true. And if it is not true, then why be bothered about it anyway? Let it pass. It ain't true and u know it. Am not saying your baby ain't the most handsome boy in the world. Am just saying, if he is, there is no need for your to even mind the haters. And if he is not, it is also ok. He is a baby. He will change. We all didn't keep our baby features. Spend your emotions enjoying your baby. Not getting mad about what others think because everyone will have an opinion. It is their opinion.

When my first was born, I looked at him and couldn’t believe he was mine. I didn’t want to say anything and be judged, but he looked like an alien to me. He was swollen and puffy. Not at all what I pictured. However, watching him grow and change has been so rewarding. No aliens are here now. Just my sweet, strong boy! Photos for proof that he’s not an alien.

It’s fine that he thinks your baby is average. At least he didn’t say ugly. Plus I want a son who is so much more than handsome. Kind is my aim. Anyway you probably are a bit biased and it doesn’t mean your husband doesn’t adore him
