I read an article that said many women will not call an event rape, even if they say the event was non consensual. This resonates with me personally and I wanted to see if anyone else related.

My abusive ex used to coerce me. Technically rape, but doesn't play out like the stereotypical rape. He wanted sex, and would keep flicking lights on, pulling blankets off me, turning the heat way up during a hot summer night, pour water on me, threatened physical abuse (that was routinely used during actual arguments), threatened to post nudes, etc in an effort to keep me awake until I gave in and let him use me for sex. It was awful. And then he'd use these incidents to shame me, like "you're such a whore you still took this dick even after I (insert abusive act here)" or "you must not hate me so much/I can't be abusive because you still took this dick like a champ" or some fucked up shit like that. Tried to leave so many times, and he would ruin my life and humiliate me until I placated him. Finally got a protective order and was able to leave without my life getting destroyed.

I was shocked and I dk but I just thought maybe it was a heat moment but I looked back, nope, it was a rape on his part but whatever.

Yes. Many times I have said no multiple times and they still continued, at the time I didn’t think it was rape but now that I’m older I think back on it and def think it wasn’t okay.
