Does excessive drinking make period late?

I’m 18 years old and just started going out to parties and living a good life. (Had a controlling boyfriend who never let me go out, so that’s why i’m so late on the partying.) I started drinking a lot due to partying and my periods have been a week late each time! Is there something wrong?

It sounds like your cycles just got a bit longer. If you ovulate a week later then your period will come a week later. It doesn't make it "late" it just makes it longer. If that makes sense? I feel like thinking of it as a period being consistently "late" makes it sound like something is wrong. Thinking of it as a cycle got longer but a period is arriving on time makes it sound like a normal, natural variation. And it probably is just that. It is pretty common for cycles to change over time.

Stress can change it and make it late, also its a huge change in behaviour which might also have a small knock on effect
