How to get baby to sleep more then 3 hours?!

My little many just turned two month. I absolutely cannot get him to sleep more then 2.5-3 hours straight. What am i doing wrong? Any advice is helpful!

Nothing, it’s normal. My babe is 3mo and wakes up every 1-2 hrs and if I’m lucky 3hrs which doesn’t happen often. He is breastfed.

You are absolutely not doing anything wrong. This is baby #2 for me; and it is incredible the difference between her sleep and the first. I really haven’t done anything differently, but she will sleep for 7+ hours straight. My first didn’t sleep for more than 2-3 hours until after 6 months and then still woke up at least once a night until 18 months. I really just think each baby is different! Good luck mama, I hope you find what works for you and babe. Sorry, I have no advice, but I want to assure you, it’s nothing you are doing wrong!

I read this book when I got desperate, and it’s been such a game changer. My babe wasn’t sleeping more than 2 hours at a time, and the first night we tried this advice, he slept 3.5. And it’s only increased from there. Now we’re up to 6 hours!

Since swaddling my son he can sleep 5-8 hour stretches at night. Formula fed.

There are definitely things you can do to help, but I think it also just depends on the baby. We tried EVERYTHING with my little one but during the night, he wouldn't ever sleep more than 2-2.5 hours. It was awful. Last week, he hit 12 weeks old and he instantly started sleeping through the night (midnight to 6am for us). He's continued to do that for 6 days now and we haven't changed anything. I swear there's something about that 12 week mark, so hopefully your baby gets better with age! I thought mine never would, then it literally happened in one night. 😂

I’m in the exact same boat as you and I find it so frustrating. I am having a really hard time enjoying being a mom because I am so tired all the time. My son wakes up every hour and a half at night and he is almost 10weeks. He will only eat an ounce or two at night each time, and then falls asleep eating. An hour later, he is back to grunting and crying. We always try paci first but it rarely works. He is swaddled, we use white noise, we try and have a routine - nothing works. I always wanted two kids, but right now there is no way I’d even consider having another one with how hard this has been. So I feel you mama. 😥

I realized sometimes my baby was waking because he was a little gassy or maybe even out of habit. I started giving him gripe water before he goes to bed and that’s helped a ton with the gas. Then when he starts to move make noise throughout the night I try his paci first. Most of the time that’s enough to settle him back to sleep. If he wakes up again 10-20 mins later I know he’s actually hungry and will feed him.

My daughter is 2 months and something I think that helps us is having a routine. Her last nap of the day is 7 and about 8 I give her a bath and let her wind down and give her a big bottle and swaddle her and turn her noise machine on. I think doing those things only in the evening help her know it’s night time and we sleep longer. She’s in bed anywhere from 9-10 and won’t wake up until 2 for a bottle and diaper change

Does your baby like being swaddled? That helped my baby. He doesn’t get swaddled anymore. He will be 4 months on the 11th and he sleeps through the night and has been since before he was 2 months. Also I know some moms are against letting their children sleep on their tummy but my son won’t sleep any other way. I think that helps too.

my daughter is 2.5 months and just recently started sleeping 4-5 hours at night. during the day she takes anywhere between 1-3 hour naps. but i think what got her sleeping longer at night was keeping her up for a hour or two, giving her a bath & rubbing bedtime lotion on her after. then i would make the room dark and give her a warm bottle.
