Sleeping through the night?

Question

Any advice to get your toddler to sleep through the night? My baby will be two on the 10th and he has NEVER slept through the night. I’ve tried crying it out and he will not give up, he will cry to the point that he makes himself vomit. My first born was such a good sleeper from the beginning and this child is just the complete opposite!

we were room and sometimes bed sharing with my daughter since she was born, and night nursing until a few months ago. She’d go to sleep in her crib, then if she woke up (which happened usually at least once if not twice a night and started when she was 4 months old - she slept great as a newborn surprisingly) my husband would bring her to me in the bed and sometimes she’d stay in the bed and sometimes she’d get taken back to her crib once she fell asleep. 
Eventually she just stopped waking up at night. There was no extra food during the day, no extra routines, nothing. Right now she’s in a toddler bed in our bedroom (mostly because I like having her close 😂 I think she could probably care less) and sleeping through the night and literally all we do is take her to the bed, cover her up, give her a kiss and turn off the light and leave. 
She has a pacifier and a plush kitty that she’s had in bed with her since she was about 7 months old. I’ve heard “comfort objects” like that can be helpful. 
But honestly, my “strategy” was just to wait it out. Night waking is normal even for adults, and for us it was pretty minimally disruptive since we just did the night nursing and that got her right back to sleep. She just needed a little extra comfort at those times. 
We did our initial sleep training at 4 months with cry it out so I’m not like a total crunchy mom 😂 but once she knew how to fall asleep on her own, I didn’t worry about the wake ups, since she has since been pretty good about going back to sleep.

Oh geeze, I feel for you! I can’t offer specific advice for 2 year olds - but we’ve followed the same routine for my son since he was 4 months old. 
Last meal/snack, bath, lotion, PJs, books, bed. Every night at the same time. While I was still breastfeeding, I had to still get up with him 1-2x a night to feed. But as we weaned, we used the cry it out method which only took a few nights before he started sleeping through the nights. 
It also helps to have a good nap time routine established. I noticed that if my sons gets a crap nap, he often doesn’t sleep as well at night. Sleep begets sleep. 
Since he is now two and knows his colors and communicates better, we also utilize a sleep/rise clock that changes colors to tell them when it’s ok to get up for the day. And I don’t want to forget our sound machine and black out curtains.

Lol no advice since my now 8 year old didn’t  sleep through the night until about 2.5 and my almost 2 year old still wakes up at least once for his sippy cup 😫😫

I was at your point too just liken 3 months ago. Nothing worked. Then I got a big girl bed and I started doing a routine. Brush teeth, read book, change her diaper, and kiss and I walk out and shut the door. Then like 20 mins later after she’s been quiet I will open it for the night. But I had to start out by laying with her for the first few nights til she fell asleep. Then I just did the kisses and told her what a big girl she was and I said close your eyes it’s time for sleeping and walked out. I had to keep going back in and laying her down for a few nights but I’d say after a week of the walking out, she got it down. I just had to be really positive and tell her how big she was and ALWAYS said, time to close your eyes. Maybe something here with my story will help you. I was a bedsharer with my daughter for 21 months and it was hell trying to get her to sleep anywhere else.
