Birth plans?

Hey ladies... FTM over here, my midwife advised me to start thinking of a birth plan.. does anyone have one they wouldn’t mind sharing.. is it a complete waste of time? Something you even think about when baby time comes?

My doctor and I decided together that my plan is to keep myself and baby alive. Everything else is a “wishlist”. That way there’s no disappointment! :)

I think it’s nice to cal them preferences and not a plan, because plans will change but having your preferences written down helps your team support you

You’re right birth is very unpredictable and it may seem like a waste of time but I think it’s worth looking into all the options so you understand what decisions you’re making at birth! 
I’ve always thought I’d have any pain relief going but after hearing more about epidurals/pethiden, I am less keen to have these! Although I won’t completely rule these out as I don’t know how painful it will be lol. 
Also I didn’t know that they can sometimes cut the umbilical cord straight away before allowing the placenta to transfer all the good stuff into the baby. Good to wait 2-5 mins before cutting it!

I went to a birthing class yesterday and they mentioned the same thing. The good thing I d say about it is it made me think about other options to help in managing pain. Like I was told I could bring my wax melter to help with scents, bring games for distractions, and a medicine ball for stretching and different positions. I would have never of thought of these before. I also found out that my hospital has jetted tubs in every labor and delivery room but unfortunately I’ll be induced and not able to use them 😔

I had a birth plan but it went right out the door when my water broke but I was zero centimeters dialated (not in labor at all).
My plan was to go as long as possible with no interventions.... 
As soon as I got to the hospital they had to start to dilate me as you are likely to get an infection if you don’t deliver 24 hours after your water breaks.
24 hrs in the dot I got a spiked fever and had s csection.

I’ve started one. And my main thing is Delayed Cord Clamping. I want my baby to receive all of his blood as it is beneficial to him. And immediate skin to skin contact if there was no complications during birth 😊
