Is this a sleep safe position for my baby?

I am so worried about making sure my baby is sleeping safe. It seems like no matter what I do he liked to wiggle and sleep on his side. He’s only 4 days old, but after I swaddle him and lay him down to rest he wiggles to one side. Is this safe? Does he need to be swaddled tighter? Does his face need to be looking up, or is this okay??? Am I worrying too much?

Oh mama, he looks okay! You're just like me with my first, he loved sleeping on his side and I would literally roll up receiving blankets and tuck them into his sides so he couldn't roll 🤣

I honestly prefer side sleeping so they don’t choke on spit up!

If they put themselves in their side like that it’s ok. They shouldn’t be strong enough yet to roll over. Just keep a good eye on them. My son eventually stopped doing the same and started sleeping in his back within a few weeks. I think it’s still kind of instinctual from womb time. 
Just make sure your doing your job of putting baby in their back to sleep and keep an eye on them and you should be fine.

My little alligator (her nickname) is not almost 5 months and sleeps on her belly she always rolls over.
Baby looks okay but if your worried if you go to amazon there’s a side sleeper thing for babies. It helps so baby doesn’t roll over onto face.

Aww ur lucky he likes being swaddled my girl was so little only 6lb 3oz when born and she was a big wriggler she loved sleeping on her side too but for piece of mind i would have rolled blankets behind her, she also had reflux and so had a slightly elevated mattress aswell as i used to put her down on her side so she wouldnt be too sicky bless her. So yh try not to worry too much they find their groove pretty quickly aslong as they cant roll onto their front it should be fine to sleep on side xxx

I would unswaddle if bub likes to side sleep. Not sure why but it just feels like they’re less vulnerable that way?? We stopped swaddling at 5-6 weeks because it got really hot where we live and my baby was so much happier after! I know the recco is to swaddle though so go with what works for you.
