IUDs?

Hello I’ve been seriously considering getting an iud. The copper iud in particular. I’m on the pill atm but I hate to remember to take it every frickin morning and my bf prefers not to use condoms, but he still uses them. Have you had one? What are your experiences? Do you know anybody who has one? Do they like it? I want to know other ppls experiences before I get one. Yes, I am aware that there are different iuds and everybody reacts differently 😅

The copper iud is nonhormonal, so you won’t have any of the side effects of hormones. However, because of the lack of hormones in a copper iud, your period typically gets heavier and for some people there can be increased cramping. On the contrary, with hormonal iuds, many women experience lighter periods or no period at all. So if your period is already a nightmare, I would not suggest the copper iud. If it’s typically light and manageable, it’s a great nonhormonal option. But keep in mind there will be a bit of a transition period for your body after using hormonal birth control and then ceasing adding hormones to your body. This might include weight changes, mood swings, acne, etc.

I had a mirena for 5 years and had to remove it after it started losing hormones because I was spotting but I loved it there was no side affects and I didn’t have a single period the whole time! My second one didn’t sit well with me though. But its so worry free while I had it I loved it.
