34 weeks contractions not dilated

Went to the Emergency room on Sunday for a sprained arm then was then told I was having contractions (first child pregnancy and had no idea I was contracting) received a cervix check and was told I am not dilating. Had to stay overnight just for a 2nd cervix check and was told contractions have subsided. Is this a concern I should be worried about this does this mean possible pre-term baby?
