I was 39 weeks 6 days when I had my baby boy! I went in last Thursday at 5pm and the doctor did her rounds. I was still closed with 50% effacement and baby stationed at 0. She decided that instead of inducing me then they were going to start cervidil to possibly ripen the cervix. They started that around 8pm and left it there till 12am. I was checked and still at a 0 at this point. I was told I might feel some cramping so when I started getting cramps at 12:30 I thought it was just the cervidil. My contraction monitor was loose so no contractions were showing on the screen. By 12:45 I was bawling because it hurt so bad and I kept telling my husband that it was just cramps I wasn’t contracting. I finally freaked the poor guy out enough he ran out to the nurses station and said he needed someone in my room immediately that I was bawling from the pain. Well I was dilated to a 3 when they checked me and started giving me morphine. Which made me sick so I asked for it to be stopped and to get the epidural instead. Once I got that everything was pretty calm. By 1:30 I was at a 5 then around 3:30 I called the nurse because something didn’t feel right. She came in and did a check I was at a 9 with a bulging water. 10 minutes later she came in and I was at a 10 and my water had broke. My sweet baby boy was born at 4:32 am. My doctor was so upset she missed the birth and the on call doctor delivered. She had hoped to start my pitocin at 5 am so she would be there to deliver. Apparently the chances of cervidil causing labor was pretty slim but my little guy was ready to meet us!
