Enema before induction?

My Mom is telling me to take an enema tonight prior to my induction tomorrow night so I don’t “poop on the table”. I know this is pretty common and I’m not sure if I care? But has anyone else done this to not
poop while giving birth?

Who cares if you poop? You honestly won’t even know. And no one is going to care. They will just discreetly clean it up along with the myriad other bodily fluids that will come out of you and the baby at that time. 
I would not risk the discomfort and potential dehydration of an enema before an induction. I’d focus on getting rest, eating well and staying hydrated. You will probably poop naturally when your labor gets going anyway.

I pooped in early labor, I was about 7 cm dilated and went to use the restroom, everything was fine with me and I didn’t poop on the table. Even if you do it’s okay. Your doctors have seen it thousands of times and can expect it, if you’re worried about pooping on the table then I’d suggest just trying to poop naturally tonight and skip the enema.

I lost my appetite as I was transitioning into active labor and also had 3 BMs leading up to delivery. I think my body was clearing itself out. I’m pretty sure I pooped a little while pushing still, but really- no one cares.

I pooped after my son came out, you honestly don’t care and no one makes a big deal out of it. I also peed a damn lake while pushing. Normally things I would be super embarrassed by but I gotta say it didn’t phase me much beyond saying “I’m peeing, I can’t help it, I’m peeing so much” 😆

If your not being induced until tomorrow night it would be more effective to do the enema an hour before you go in and not eat after. It wont make a difference if you do it tonight and then eat tomorrow. 
I had the urge to use the bathroom less than 5 mins after the enema. It was not diarrhea so didnt dehydrate me or cause any extreme  discomfort. It was mildly uncomfortable immediately after until I released the enema and went like 3 mins after. After that it was fine. I think I may do one if its convenient and I feel up for it in early labor.

I believe it used to be standard practice but not anymore. 
Nurses and doctors are used to a little poop here and there and will clear it away quickly and subtly. 
I guess you’d have to not eat after you do it.

Sometimes your body takes care of that for you in early labor. You don’t need to worry about it or take an enima or anything. Just relax, eat, stay hydrated, rest. Your body will do what it’s supposed to do when it’s ready and the medical staff don’t care at all if poop happens.
