Living on $35 k a year

My husband just got laid off yesterday at his old job he was making 42K and had most weekends off. If he takes this new job he’ll be making 7K less a year, have to commute 3 hours everyday, work every weekend and still work evening shifts. How do you live off 35K a year? Note I don’t work right now because we have two kids and all my salary would go to daycare

Also forgot to add both cars are paid off, we don’t have cable and don’t eat out much already, are only debt is our mortgage and other bills (utilities, insurance, etc) I’m worried because our mortgage is 1,100 a month and I’m not sure how we’ll make that now
